As most of those involved with the Fraser Valley Hunt Society are aware, the organization has arrived at a crossroads with all three existing joint masters, Ray Wise, Kathrine von Trebra, and Karen Hatch resigning their positions and with Karen also retiring as our long-term huntsman. This of course leaves the Hunt in a difficult position, and accordingly a special meeting of the members was held on Sunday May 1, 2016 to consider the future. The discussion centered around the practicality of continuing the society at all, and the safety and liability issues of riding to hounds. The following resolution was passed unanimously at the meeting:
To continue the Fraser Valley Hunt Society, finding alternative homes/accommodations for the hounds currently in kennels. The intention is to continue hunting without hounds until such time as it becomes feasible and responsible to reinstate hunting with hounds.
This resolution provides for the continuation of the club, although at least in the near term, and possibly permanently, in a modified manner. As well, everyone involved recognizes that losing the collective experience of these long time contributors will create a void which will be extremely difficult to fill. The society owes a huge debt of gratitude for the contributions these individuals have made over the years.
By acclamation, a new board of directors was appointed at the meeting with the task of carrying forward the business of the society. The new board consists of Aar Koeman, Carol Champion, Anna Strangway and John Strangway. In the coming weeks and months this group will be working to set a new course forward, grappling with issues and priorities such as, how and when it will be feasible to again ride to hounds, recruiting new members and finding new territory in which to ride. Overriding all of the issues will be the requirement to balance the budget and generate additional revenue, as maintaining the pack and obtaining the capable and competent help required to safely and enjoyably ride to them, is the societies biggest expense. The board will require the assistance and commitment of everyone who would like to see this tradition continue.
Stay posted for more information. For questions, suggestions, or offers of assistance, email email@example.com or feel free to contact any of the board members.

July 30, 2016 – The Fraser Valley Hunt Society is pleased to announce the hiring of Alysha Baxter as the Society’s new Kennelsman. Alysha will start working with the hounds in August, and will assume full time duties in kennels in September. Alysha brings with her considerable experience, and a lifelong interest, in both horses and canines. She’s previously hunted with, and whipped in for, the Fraser Valley Hunt. The expectation is that Ms. Baxter will not only maintain and manage our pack, but will develop the experience and ability to successfully and safely hunt our hounds in the future.
After more that two dozen seasons our huntsman Karen Hatch is retiring.
Let us send her off in style!
